Tie dyed wearing runners and walkers of all ages gathered for the 2nd annual Charley Townsley Memorial Ripple Run on Saturday, October 13.
The Ripple Run is a tie dye, Grateful Dead themed memorial run to honor the late Charley Townsley. Townsley, who passed in 2012, was the Sports Editor for the Toledo Chronicle and Tama News Herald as well as the father of the current Sports Editor Allison Graham. Charley was an avid supporter of South Tama sports, a huge fan of the Grateful Dead and also enjoyed nature. Proceeds from the event will be go back toward South Tama students and their activities.
The race is in its sophomore year and is held at the beautiful Otter Creek Lake and Park just outside of Toledo.

The top male and female winners of the Charley Townsley Ripple Run were brother and sister, Tommy and Isabelle Tyynismaa. Tommy is 13 and in 7th grade at South Tama and Isabelle is a sophomore at Wartburg College where she runs track and field. Isabelle was a top runner for South Tama and broke the 100, 200 and 400 meter records for the Trojans in her senior year at STC.
